    Hi Kally,
Thanks for a fantastic blog with lots of good ideas and photos!!

I have something I would really appreciate your opinion on.. You’ve uploaded so many wedding dresses so you must have a good overview of the do’s and dont’s. I ahve just bought my dress from Manuel Mota’s 2008 collection: Colina (you have it here above). I am now having huge doubts as I have the impression that it evokes a sense of ‘hippie’. Am completely wrong here?

As I said, I would really appreciate your advice.. thanks..

  2. kally Says:

    Hi D,

Thank you for your kind words. But I’m not so sure about the hippie look; it’s rather a French revolution influence.

I’ll post immediately a new article; I can put some pictures there too so you should get a bit better my point.

And I’m so glad you like Fashionbride

  3. D Says:

OK good! We are having our wedding at a meadow which is why I want to tune down the whole hippie theme a bit..

People have been telling me that I look like Jenny in Forrest Gump in my dress (you know the scene when they get married?) which got me a bit scared. So thanks for the advice and reassurance! I look forward to the new article.

  4. kally Says:

    Don’t worry; you’ll look perfect.

  5. Tiffany Says:

    Hi -
Thanks for making it easy to see all of the dresses in one place. I really like the Cangas dress, but can’t find it anywhere to try on. I live in Southern California and none of the bridal shops have it anywhere. Have you seen it in person? One shop had a Pronovias dress that was very similar – same lace bodice and skirt only with small straps – no sleeves. It is not on the 2008 pronovias website. Do you know if it was a previous year’s model? It fit great but am wondering if they are the same dress? The only other difference is it seems it is not made out of the same white organza that the current MM dresses are showing up in. I love the white organza – so would order the Cangas dress if I knew it had the same fit.

  6. kally Says:

    Hi Tiffany,

I’m glad I can help :) . That’s why I thought necessary to upload the Pronovias Collection. I still have some work to do…

About Cangas. Honestly I don’t remember seeing it in the 2007 Collection, I’ll check it up first thing in the morning (I live in Europe :) ) and tell you what I discover.

Didn’t they tell you what dress did you tried on? Maybe it was Cangas but without the embroidered chemise .

But I’m sure if you order the dress, perfect sizes, it will look ok. Cangas has a very nice shape that fits on every figure.

  7. Patricija Says:

Does any bridal salon carry manuel mota?!? I love this dress called the camara. Its so beautiful. But to pay betweek $3000-5000, I feel like should make sure it looks good on. Any suggestions?

  8. kally Says:

    Hi Patricija,

Where do you live :P … anyway, you can find all the retailers at http://www.pronovias.com

  9. Kali Says:

    hi girls

im going to get married in july… what do you thing about the coimbra dress of manuel mota 2008n colection? i dont have pronovias here in my country, im going to travel to europe next week i want to buy it there….do you think it is appropiated for a bride?

  10. kally Says:

    Hi,

Well off course the dress is appropriate :) but it depends very much on the way you look (for instance I am very short :( so this type of dress won’t fit me right).

Can’t wait to tell us what your trip was. I hope you’ll find everything you dream of.

    Good Luck,

    Kally

  11. Valentine O' Brien Says:

Hello, I am new to this webite but delighted to find it.
Kali I WANT the Coimbra dress also. I don’t know about u but I just do not want a typical wedding dress, its just not me. The only thing is I am only 5ft 3″ & I wonder would I look silly?? Plus I live in Ireland & I do not think anywhere here has it? I would also like to know the price – I do not want to sound like skin flint but I do not intend spending a small fortune on it.

So did u try it on, was it fab?? I absolutely adore it.

    Desperately seeking advice,

    Valentine**

  12. kally Says:

    Hi,

Well, first of all, I’m glad you found Fashionbride, I hope it will be usefull :) .

As for the Coimbra I’ll let Kali answer … I already said that i don’t think this gown would advantage me (i’m also short 1,55 m) but it depends a lot on the way you look; if you’re really slim and the dres will be properly adjusted, I don’t see any problems :) .

Pronovias has many retailers in Ireland :D , you don’t have to worry about it.

All my best and hope to hear from you soon,
    Kally

  13. Kali Says:

  14. Melissa Says:

    Hi there!

I am so happy to discover this website! I have been searching endlessly for the Pronovias Manuel Mota Clara and Colina gowns and at last! Perhaps you might be able to provide some insight as to where I can find and purchase either of these gowns. I am truly in love with the Colina gown! I am not sure how much these gowns are, but I am hoping to find them at a good price. If you can help me in any way, I would truly appreciate it! Thank you so much! God bless you!

    Sincerely,
    Melissa

  15. kally Says:

@ kali. I’m glad you like your in laws (that’s a very good thing :P ) and I bet the gown will look great on you (*lucky girl… 1,80… I wish I was that tall :P )

@ melissa: you can find all the details on http://www.pronovias.com. I’m not allowed to make further comments as I am not a retailer :) . But you can post a comment on the announcements section on FashionBride… maybe someone can help you :) . I’m glad you descovered FashionBride too.

    Kisses,
    Kally

  16. Debs Says:

    Hi Kally,
I love your blog. I am so glad i found a lot of brides also in love for Manuel Mota Dresses. I like the dresses Condado and Camara. I am also after a wedding dress that is not so tradicional. I have not seen the dresses yet but i wonder if you think any of them would suit me. I am very short, 1,60 m and quite small, (UK size 8 – or jeans size 27). Any idea how much this dresses will cost in the USA. I will be shoppping for my dress in california with my friends. i sent a couple of emails to the retailerss few weeks ago and have not received any replay.
Many thanks and congrats for the blog!!
    Debs

  17. kally Says:

    Hi,

I’m glad you like my blog  ….

The dresses are around 1000-1500 US dollars (I’ve already said it :P I don’t know for sure since I live in Europe).

The Camara gown is absolutely adorable and I’m sure it will look great on you (it’s a pretty used trick … the inferior part of the gown creates amplitude and the relatively simple upper part assures the height illusion.

As for Condado… I’m not sure which one is that :P .

    I promise I’ll send some e-mails myself to Pronovias… but after I finish my exams :D .

    All my best

  18. Jenna Says:

Hi there D. I think the Colina Dress is beautiful. I have been searching to buy it myself. You should use it I think, but if the doubts are too much you have a possible buyer in me, wlling to take it off your hands. Or if you are wanting to sell it second hand after your big day, I would also be interested. If the size is right.

    :o )
    all the the best
    Jenna.

  19. emily Says:

hello there! i am brand new to this site, and i am ecstatic to have found such a solid resource for wedding gowns!! thank you so much for making this fantastic blog!! i am from the US and have fallen in love with the valdemar from the 2009 manuel mota collection. it is SO romantically gorgeous and i am anxiously awaiting its debut in the states. i’ve looked around a few sites and have discovered mixed opinions regarding prices for the mota gowns. any idea as to about how much these gorgeous gowns are? i’m scared they might be quite far out of my budget bracket (i really don’t want to spend more than $3000 USD). i am about 5′6 and am a petite woman in terms of the bust region (eep!). do you think the valdemar would be an appropriate choice since there seems to be a little more fluff above the empire waist?

  20. kally Says:

    Hi Emily,

The best way to find out if the dress really suits you is to go and try it on :) . Belive me, nothing can get the stone from your heart better then to see the gown with your own eyes. As for the prices… I’ve said it 100 times :P try to get the price from your retailers :) .

Today I’ve got an e-mail from the guys at Pronovias… they told me it’s imposible to give me prices from all over the world :P It depends a lot of the town, state, country you live in.

    You’re american… that means you’ll get a Pronovias with 3000 … don’t worry :) . In Europe the cost starts at 1000 Euros :) .

You can even see the announcements page :) . Nicole was planning on selling her Nicole dress from Pronovias.

All my best and thx for the kind words :) .

  21. emily Says:

kally, you are truly a godsend. thank you so much for you advice! i am at this very moment sneaking a call from work to the nearest bridal salon in order to schedule an appointment. :D i was going to give the pronovias dango a whirl, first, since it’s available in the states. this way, i can at least see what a dress of a similar style will look like on me, and i can also get a feel for the sizing. again, i thank you and will bookmark your page, because i swear to you it’s the most useful resource out there on the web!!! :) :) :)

    <3,
    emily

  22. kally Says:

thank you so much :D and keep us informed, I’ll be the first to tell you what I think :D

I can assure you I’ll try my best in giving advices and posting the best collections.

I’m verry busy right now but be sure to find many, many, surprised in the second part of the month :D

  23. Marie Says:

Just a message for Tiffany, I wore st patrick cangas wedding dress to my wedding august 2007, it is from the 2005 collection. I bought my dress in Ireland, i’m not too sure if they still sell it.

Good luck with your wedding plans.

  24. ainjil Says:

In new york the valdemar dress is around $4000. Does anyone have pictures of the back? Or even more of the front. I have hips and I am 5 foot 3 so I am afraid I will look huge

  25. kally Says:

Of Valdemar? I’ll post it imediatly :)

  26. ainjil Says:

Yes please! I tried on the “coimbra” dress because its awesome but it looks horrible on my pear shape. I bought the “paola” dress from badgley mischka for 5k and then saw the “valdemar” and had an oh shit moment. The 2009 MM are not going to be available in LA until september. Ahhhhhh!I don’t know what to do

  27. ainjil Says:

Ps I think it was the camara dress that I had tried that didn’t work. Not the coimbra. I tried the one with the waistband and big jewel

  28. kally Says:

Ainjil, I posted the valdemar. The best way to know is to try it on, cause you can’t see the way it look only if you see the pictures.

You can consider order it via internet or come to barcelona if you like the new collection :) .

  29. Marina Says:

where can I get the prices for Pronovia collection?

  30. Marina Says:

Pronovias-Valdemar, Hillary, Heraldo, Coimbra. I am in love with this dresses, if any one knows the price? or maybe some has it and want it to sell it?

  31. kally Says:

You can find out what prices the gowns have from the retailer shops.

  32. Lucy Says:

I have fallen head over heels in love with Manuel Mota but don’t want to go and try dresses until I know the price range? Does anyone know the starting price? A very excited bride to be!

  33. kally Says:

Well until you go there and see the dresses you won’t know what you want. If you don’t know what you want then you can’t have a price comparison point.

Girls, there’s nothing wrong or hard to do. Just go to the retailers, see what they have, ask for the price and then leave. It takes just 10 minutes :P .

I don’t know the prices all over the world and like I said before it depends on the country you live in.

  34. Emily Says:

    Hi Kally!

I just wanted to report to you and let you know that I have purchased both the Dango and Valdemar gowns in the states! :) One is due to come in during November, while the other is slated for April of next year. I am SO ecstatic! The Dango was gorgeous!! Now, I haven’t had a chance to try on the Valdemar, but I figured the “breathless” impact the internet visuals of the dress was enough to justify the purchase. :)

  35. kally Says:

    Hi darling,

Congrats!!! :D The gowns are gorgeous and I’m sure everything will be ok :) . Can’t wait for the pictures :D (with you in the dresses that is :P ) .

    Keep us posted ;)

  42. Claudia Says:

    Hi,

  44. Claire Says:

Hi Claudia, pronovias in bond street has a sample sale on this weekend 75% off. I am a regular size 14 – do manuel mota dresses fit us larger ladies?

  45. Juliene Says:

    Hi Kally!

I love the blog – it really does provide a lot of great insight. Like many of the readers above, I have a question about where I can find a particular dress. I completely fell in love with the Manuel Mota “Clara” and I have been looking for it everywhere. Also, because I have yet to find it, I cannot try it on. I noticed above that you have ideas on what styles will look good on particular body types…I am quite skinny and slightly taller (6′1″/1.82m) than my fiance, so I don’t want to appear excessively tall and skinny. Do you think this style will create that illusion since there isn’t much shape to it?Thanks!

  46. kally Says:

    Hi Juliene,

I’m glad you like my blog , I do try my best :) .

As for Clara (such a beautiful gown :X) it will look great on you because you’re tall and thin, BUT it depends a lot on how skinny you are cause the shoulders will play a decisive role in the way you look.

So if you’re rather skinny on the upper side (hands, shoulder, neck) then you should consider having a bolero go with it (actually I think Clara had a certain bolero on it).

I will make a post about body weight/height and recommended gowns :) . Hope I’ll have time today (I have thousands of e-mails to answer :P ).

    Best.

  47. Kim Says:

I’m still searching for a Manuel Mota Colina gown to purchase – hopefully from a sample sale. This gown is very difficult to find. If anyone has any ideas, please share. Thank you.

Do you know where and when do sample sales take place in New York City?

There are no sample sales in my country, I’m new to the city, and I’m getting married this year…I’m in love but Manuel Mota’s dresses but I’m worried about the price! (I haven’t gone to Pronovias yet – I’m going next week)
